Tablas Abajo is a humble community, where its inhabitants dedicated themselves to fishing activities and subsistence agriculture. But, for the last decade of the 19th century it became important for the construction of Doctor Belisario Porras' country house, a house whose name is the Pausilipo, which means peace, tranquility; built on a slight hill in the area known as the Guásimo, via Playa Las Comadres.

In 1969, the chapel was built, the patron saint of which is the Virgin of Lourdes. In 1972, when choosing the first honorable, representative and constituent Don Benigno Zarzavilla Díaz, the fundamental basis for the development of the town was achieved and the electric power was taken. In that decade of the 70s the construction of the first asphalt road and the rural aqueduct that still exists began.

Already in the 1980s the opening of the paths to the beaches: La Colorada and Las Comadres was achieved and the first public telephone was established.

Currently, in the Corregimeinto de Tablas Abajo, innumerable residential projects have been established thanks to the constant improvement of the infrastructures that have made Tablas Abajo a strong and continually developing township. One of the acts that we celebrate with more enthusiasm in the celebration of the corregimiento anniversary, with folkloric, diabolic, décimas presentations, contests of: Miss Chiquitita, Tu Cara Me Suena and Sujes Estilizados; giving participation to children, youth and adults in family.

Tablas Abajo es una comunidad humilde, donde sus moradores se dedicaban a actividades de pesca y agricultura de subsistencia. Pero, para la última década del siglo XIX toma importancia por la construcción de la casa de campo del Doctor Belisario Porras, casa cuyo nombre es el Pausilipo, que significa paz, tranquilidad; construida sobre una leve colina en el área conocida como el Guásimo, vía Playa Las Comadres.

En el año 1969, se construye la capilla, cuya Patrona es la Virgen de Lourdes. En el año 1972 al escoger el primer honorable, representante y constituyente Don Benigno Zarzavilla Díaz se logra la base fundamental para el desarrollo del poblado y se lleva el tendido eléctrico. En esa década de los 70 se inició la construcción de la primera carretera de asfalto y el acueducto rural que aún existe.
Ya en la década de 1980 se logra la apertura de los caminos hacia las playas: La Colorada y Las Comadres y se establece el primer teléfono público.

Actualmente, en el Corregimeinto de Tablas Abajo se han establecido innumerables proyectos residenciales gracias a la constante mejora de las infreaestructuras que han hecho de Tablas Abajo un corregimiento pujante y en continuo desarrollo. Una de los actos que celebramos con más entusiasmo en la celebración del aniversario de corregimiento, con presentaciones folclóricas, diabólicos, décimas, concursos de: Miss chiquitita, Tu Cara Me Suena y Trajes Estilizados; dando participación a niños, jóvenes y adultos en familia.
