There’s no better way to liven up your home and make it feel more warm and cozy than to spice up your décor. As we approach the final weeks of summer, now is the perfect time to get a jump start on some do-it-yourself (DIY) projects that are inexpensive and easy to do. Sometimes, the components to make a perfect centerpiece or decoration are even in your backyard.
Pumpkins are a perfect addition. Pumpkins are good for more than just pie during Thanksgiving. They can make good additions to centerpieces, wreaths, additions to your foyer and can even liven up your curb appeal by adding some pumpkins and foliage to your porch or walkway. Bonus tip: using white pumpkins gives an elegant twist to the classic pumpkin look.
Keep your food on display. Give your kitchen a pop of color by putting fresh apples, squash, pumpkins (another use for pumpkins!), and fresh flowers on display on the counter or dining room table.
Don’t throw away old dishes. Think those old, worn gravy boats or tea kettles need thrown away? Think again! They can be the perfect base for a beautiful fall arrangement. Put in some faux wheat, fresh herbs from the garden like thyme or lettuce with some flowers and presto! You have a fall arrangement that looks fresh and inviting anywhere you want.
Add some plaid. Adding some plaid blankets or throws to the couch or chairs on the front porch make everything seem more like fall. Feeling extra crafty? Make your own blanket with fabric or patches of old clothes.
